THE CHESHAM CABINET COLLECTION
Introducing the latest from Liberty: Chesham Cabinet collection: a new interiors collection inspired by antique doll and cabinet houses from the 1800’s and beyond.
The elegant colour palettes and diverse print combinations draw on their distinctive, period interiors. A series of innovative prints created in-house, from stunning archive documents and interesting collaborations.
” There are not that many records of the past – Doll and Cabinet Houses have documented the interior design styles of the periods when they were created”
The Lady Kristina
Lady Kristina Liberty Print has been adapted from an archive document within a series of exquisite hand painted artworks created for Liberty in the 1920s and ’30s. These sumptuous tree of life designs were used for various textiles including cushions, throws and kimonos. This print embodies the cinema room in the Cabinet House and was suitably selected for the collection by celebrated actor, Sir Roger Moore.
Porthmeor Beach
Porthmeor Beach Liberty print is a textured paint splashed tartan design, created by second year Falmouth University fashion and textiles student Hannah Bayliss.
The print embodies the bathroom in the Cabinet House and has a strong influence of water and sea running throughout.
Emerald and Rose![Emerald and Rose Liberty]()
Emerald and Rose Liberty Print was inspired by an original Morris print ‘Rose and Thistle’. The design was first created in 1881 with wood block and printed by Liberty at Stead McAlpin in 1969.
A mix of the Orient and Arts & Crafts, the updated design offers a paisley sub pattern beautifully distorting the original roses and thistles.
Fruit Billett
Fruit Billett Liberty print is an original water colour design, hand painted in-house at Liberty. The rich artwork was inspired by the layout of a popular 1995 botanical fruit painting taken from the Liberty archive.
The print illustrates the wonderful depth of shade with the fruits illuminated from the ground as seen in ‘The Old Master’ Dutch flower paintings.
Shepherdly Flowers
An original design, hand drawn in pencil and then painted in gouache, Shepherdly Flowers Liberty print was created using bunches of flowers purchased from the Liberty Flower shop, Wild at Heart as inspiration.
Stylised into a floral paisley, the print represents two of the most famous styles of Liberty print, designs from the Orient and florals.
“The collection brings the world of interiors to life, mixing interesting collaborations with in-house works of art and Liberty archive documents”
